October 10, 2011

Dave and Paul will be at AmiWest 2011! They will have several computers running MorphOS at their table and AmigaOS3.x running on an iPhone. Other “iApps” have also been mentioned.

Also on-board is the FPGA Arcade Replay Board, a stand-alone system using FPGA technology to “. . . load many different Arcade architectures into the FPGA, so it could run those games, plus also run the MiniMig and Atari cores with room for the soft-core Motorola 68000 chip inside the FPGA as well.”

We look forward to seeing what Dave and Paul have to show us at AmiWest. You don’t want to miss it!

Site Stats Go Global!

September 29, 2011

At the bottom of our amiwest.net web page is a ClustrMap [sic], indicating where the visitors to the site have been surfing in from. From October 15, 2010 to September 14, 2011, we have had 2,465 visitors. A big “Thank you!” to everyone who has visited.

The most remarkable part of these stats is the location of our visitors. Just go to amiwest.net at the bottom of the page to the ClustrMap and “Click to See” the many states and countries our visitors inhabit. It is a truly global list with 41 of 50 US states and 55 countries (and 15 “N/A”) visiting during this time frame.

Amiga is truly global in interest and impact! While many of these visitors are the only visitor from their area, many stats stand out from the rest. Check it out to see what I mean. And I’m sure that many, if not most, of these visitors would like to visit AmiWest 2011 in person.

We will be playing host to a global audience at AmiWest 2011! So be sure to make your plans to attend AmiWest 2011, the Amiga show on the West Coast of the United States of America! It’s all happening at the new Holiday Inn Express, 2224 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95821, Tel: 916.923.1100. Come see the latest in Amiga hardware and software October 21-23, 2011. AmiWest Banquet Tickets Still $29.00 for 2011!

September 29, 2011

As blogged earlier, tickets for the AmiWest 2011 banquet must be purchased separately. Since our sponsors for the show make free admission to the show possible, banquet tickets are the only expense directly associated with attending AmiWest. Try as we might, we still cannot persuade to caterer to kick in the banquet for free – at least, not yet. We’re working on it.

For 2011, we are featuring Steven Solie, Hyperion Entertainment Lead Developer for OS4.x, as banquet speaker. Those of you who know Steven already are familiar with his qualifications and his awesome expertise as a programmer. He’s just the sort of person one would want as Lead Developer.

What’s more, he is an engaging speaker. He will be speaking on the way forward for OS4.x and the Amiga in general. You don’t want to miss what he has to say. The price of admission is $29.00 per ticket (which, alas, goes to the caterer!). To get your ticket send a check for $29, made out to Amiwest, to:

AmiWest 2011 Banquet
Chuck Washburn
7051 Dolan way,
Citrus Heights Ca. 95621

We need to give the caterer (such demanding people!) an advance count two weeks before the banquet.

So please make out your check and send it in today as part of completing your plans to attend AmiWest 2011, the Amiga show on the West Coast of the United States of America! It’s all happening at the new Holiday Inn Express, 2224 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95821, Tel: 916.923.1100. Come see the latest in Amiga hardware and software October 21-23, 2011. Three Weeks to AmiWest 2011!

September 29, 2011

I don’t know where your summer went, but mine rushed by very quickly! We’ve been in the fall season for about seven or eight days now, and AmiWest is almost here! We’re hoping for cooler weather soon and should have some by AmiWest time, cooler, at least, by California standards.

We now have (and have had) at least four commercial companies (and a major dealer) that support the Amiga; all of them will be represented at AmiWest. At least two of them have major announcements to make at AmiWest that you don’t want to miss. More involvement is being confirmed and will be blogged soon.

We want to emphasize, though, that our show is YOU! You make AmiWest what it is and form the community that is vibrant and alive, the Amiga community. The show is presented for YOU, and these commercial enterprises are here for YOU, members of the Amiga community. Without YOU, the show cannot go on.

AEON to Sponsor AmiWest 2011, Trevor Dickinson to Attend!

September 17, 2011

We met Trevor last year for the first time. He is a great supporter of the Amiga and AmiWest, and a lot of fun in the bargain! He is also committing a great deal of time, energy and money to bringing out the X1000.

He will be with us again this year, barring any sort of disaster that may befall travellers from distant points (such as the southern hemisphere!).

As always, there are surprises in store for the Amiga community at AmiWest. This year is no exception. And at the very least, we think that you will want to see the X1000 in action at AmiWest.
