UGN’s Bill Borsari to Webcast AmiWest 2008!

October 16, 2008 by amigaprez

As he has since the inception of AmiWest, Bill Borsari will be webcasting AmiWest 2008 worldwide.

Using his own custom script and hardware setup, Bill will be broadcasting audio and webcam video to the world from Sacrmento’s Capitol City Hotel live, as it happens. He will also be interviewing selected Amiga personalities in attendance at the show.

We want to thank Bill for his ten years of service to AmiWest and hope that our association lasts into a long future. His efforts provide a dimension that adds color and depth to AmiWest.

Thank you, Bill!

Be sure to be there and see Bill in action at both the Friday night banquet and all day at AmiWest!

You ARE the Show at AmiWest 2008

October 14, 2008 by amigaprez

Just imagine:

Many of the world’s leading Amiga players are attending AmiWest 2008.

The facilities are ready to go.

Sacramento Amiga Computer Club members are coming to be the “hands and feet” to make the show a success.

The Friday night banquet is prepared for guests to enjoy.

But you don’t come to benefit from it all!

To the extent that this scenario plays out, AmiWest cannot be a success for those who don’t attend.

You see, AmiWest is written in the hearts and minds of those who attend. And year after year, significant things happen at AmiWest that change the Amiga landscape.

This year will see demos of OS 4.1, new hardware discussions, and “What does 4.1 run?” questions answered. And there are always a few surprises in store for everyone.

So come on out and see what’s new in Amigadom! We’ll look for you this weekend, October 17 and 18, 2008 at the Capitol City Hotel in Sacramento, California.

The AmiWest 2008 Banquet Speaker Is. . .

October 3, 2008 by amigaprez

We’re pleased to announce that a leading Amiga hardware designer has accepted our invitation to speak at the AmiWest 2008 banquet.

That designer is Jens Schoenfeld of Individual Computers, coming to us from Aachen, Germany. Jens founded his company the same year that Commodore went bankrupt – 1994. Since then, he has designed and brought to market what is probably more Amiga hardware than anyone else during that time, covering the past 14 years.

Now is the time to contact Chuck Washburn (chela@calweb.com) to reserve your banquet tickets to hear Jens. We’re certain that you’ll want to hear what he has to say.

As always, our venue requires an advance count for banquet tickets. After we turn in the count, no more tickets are available.

Don’t be disappointed. Reserve your banquet tickets NOW.

Ars Technica reviews OS 4.1

September 30, 2008 by amigaprez

For those of you who haven’t seen it, Jeremy Riemer, who writes for Ars Technica, has reviewed OS 4.1 from his experience with an advance copy of it.

Here’s the link:

http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/amigaos41-ars.ars

There are lots of good things happening here, enough to warrant the purchase price of the OS.

And when you’re at AmiWest (which is eighteen days from today), you can also see it run and buy a copy.

More than that, you can also buy the hardware that runs it as well!

Haven’t made plans to come to AmiWest yet? What are you waiting for?

See you there!

FOR SALE: New Amiga hardware and OS 4.1!

September 23, 2008 by amigaprez

Yes, that’s right! The latest in Amiga hardware and OS 4.1 will be FOR SALE at AmiWest 2008!

No more tempting “It’s done when it’s done”; THE WAIT IS OVER!

Amigakit will have SAM boards and OS 4.1 for sale as well as taking orders for your ideal Amiga to be built and shipped directly to you! Please contact Amigakit directly (amigakit.com) with your interest and order. We understand that they are making arrangements to have these components in stock and for sale at AmiWest.

Also, Amigakit has a great stock of classic Amiga machines, cards, peripherals and software for sale as well. Obviously, they would be hard pressed to bring everything to the show. However, if you contact them with your list of what you want to buy, they are currently making arrangements to bring it and sell it to you at the show.

So assemble your list and contact Amigakit! They’ll bring it right to you in Sacramento on October 17-18 at the Capitol City Hotel (different name, same location).

See you there!

September 21, 2008 by amigaprez

Once again, AmiWest is the show to attend in North America. Make your plans to be there NOW! And don’t forget to reserve your banquet tickets IN ADVANCE. We must have your reservation at least 2 weeks before the October 17, 2008 banquet to assure your place at the banquet. You will want to be there!

And remember, AmiWest co-sponsors Amigakit and Individual Computers have made FREE ADMISSION possible again at AmiWest! So invite all your friends to come along to see the future of Amiga computing.
